Everything this week leans towards Thursday, when Black Doves puts Keira Knightley and Ben Whishaw back on Netflix. Around it, BBC One opens two new dramas, ITV1 sticks to its weeknight crime habit, and Wednesday turns into a pile-up as Apple TV, Disney+ and Prime Video all launch series on the same day. If you missed the Halloween run, last week’s guide still works as a catch-up list.

Monday 2 November

Tall Tales & Murder (BBC One Northern Ireland and BBC iPlayer). A Dublin night shift, a coma patient and a hoard of Celtic gold: this six-part comic crime drama premieres on BBC One NI at 10.40pm, with the full series landing as a box set on BBC iPlayer the same day. Love/Hate creator Stuart Carolan made it with co-creator Chris Addison, adapting Caimh McDonnell’s Dublin Trilogy books. Ella Lily Hyland plays Bridget, a night-shift nurse at a nursing home, opposite Casey Walsh and Aidan Gillen, whose comatose patient wakes up insisting he is a long-lost gangster with gold stashed away.

Adultery (ITV1, 9pm). The drama runs on Sunday and Monday nights. This time Tom and Beth take their affair further on a weekend away, while the pressure of Neil’s trial starts to pull Beth apart.

Tuesday 3 November

Tall Tales & Murder (BBC One, 10.40pm). The rest of the UK gets the opening episode a night after Northern Ireland. If the first hour hooks you, there is no waiting: the whole series is already on iPlayer.

Wednesday 4 November

Stick season two (Apple TV). Pryce Cahill, the washed-up former pro played by Owen Wilson, is betting on himself now, chasing a comeback of his own while his young prodigy Santi (Peter Dager) carries the weight of everyone’s expectations. Two episodes open the season, then one a week until 30 December, 10 in all. Marc Maron, Mariana Treviño, Lilli Kay, Rhea Seehorn and Timothy Olyphant fill out the cast.

All’s Fair season two (Disney+). Kim Kardashian, Naomi Watts and Niecy Nash-Betts are back running their all-female divorce firm, with Glenn Close and Sarah Paulson also in the cast. Three episodes arrive at once, then a new one every Wednesday.

The Greatest (Prime Video). Ben Watkins’s Muhammad Ali series drops all eight episodes in one go, with Jaalen Best playing the boxer as both Cassius Clay and Muhammad Ali. It streams in more than 240 countries and territories, and Amazon frames it as the story of “a man, a husband, a father, a brother, and a son” as much as a champion.

Winter (ITV1, 9pm). Richard Armitage plays Dr Ethan Winter, a Bristol forensic pathologist working murder cases with DI Lauren Bell and DS Ellis Daldry, opposite Annabel Scholey. This week a cinema date with Maya goes badly wrong when a woman staggers in covered in someone else’s blood.

Thursday 5 November

Black Doves season two (Netflix). Helen (Knightley) is still feeding secrets to the Black Doves while her husband Wallace readies himself to become prime minister. Sam (Whishaw), reduced to low-paid hits, is back in her orbit, and Sarah Lancashire returns as Mrs Reed. Ambika Mod, Sam Riley, Neve Campbell and Sylvia Hoeks join the cast.

North of North season two (Netflix). After a week of spies and pathologists, the Arctic comedy offers a gentler eight half-hours. Siaja (Anna Lambe) pushes her boss for more responsibility, meets a half-sister she never knew existed and starts to think about dating again.

Big Brother: Live Final (ITV2, 9pm). Nightly episodes run from Sunday to Wednesday, and on Thursday the public crowns a winner.

Friday 6 November

Return to Paradise series three (BBC One and BBC iPlayer). The Australian spin-off of Death in Paradise, made for the ABC with the BBC, comes back with Anna Samson as DS Mackenzie Clarke. Pathologist Glenn Strong (Tai Hara) has gone, leaving Mack and Colin Cartwright (Lloyd Griffith) to handle cases that include an artist stabbed in front of an audience and a director shot at her own screening.

Possible Love (Netflix). Lee Chang-dong’s new film streams worldwide, with Jeon Do-yeon, Sul Kyung-gu and Cho Yeo-jeong in the cast.

Under Siege (Netflix). Natalia Reyes stars in an eight-part Colombian drama inspired by the 1985 siege of the Palace of Justice in Bogotá.

Nations Championship: Ireland v Argentina (ITV1, 7.15pm). Mark Pougatch presents live from Dublin as the autumn instalment of the Rugby Nations Championship gets under way with its opening game.

The weekend

Sunday is a good night to catch up on Blue Planet III, which began on BBC One on Sunday 1 November. Sir David Attenborough narrates six episodes that travel from tropical seas and the open ocean down into the deep, in a series its makers pitch as “a new Blue Planet for a new generation.”
