The last week of October in the UK splits neatly between a Canadian thriller on Sky, a live darts night on Netflix and a serial-killer drama on Apple TV. ITV’s new Sunday drama Adultery is a day old, and the week ends with YAGA arriving on Sky and NOW on Halloween.

The lead pick: YAGA (Sky and NOW, Saturday 31 October)

YAGA comes exclusively to Sky and NOW in the UK and Ireland on 31 October, Sky says. The eight-part series, created and written by Kat Sandler, stars Carrie-Anne Moss, Noah Reid, Clark Backo and Hudson Williams. Sky describes a private investigator looking into the disappearance of a fishery heir in a small coastal town, who clashes with a wary local detective, a professor and a cast of suspects with hidden lives and ancient magic.

David Frazee and Rachel Talalay co-direct, and Moss is also an executive producer. The series is a Crave Original made by Blink49 Studios and Front Street Pictures in association with Bell Media, and it premiered on Crave in Canada on 23 October. Sheila McCarthy, Megan Follows and Katharine Isabelle are among the supporting cast.

Netflix

Netflix’s live event of the week is Beat Luke Littler on Friday 30 October. Netflix says 20 UK amateurs each get one chance at a single-leg showdown with Littler, with £501,000 on offer, in a live night hosted by Gary Lineker with Richard Osman as expert analyst. Netflix has said the start time will be announced closer to the event.

Earlier, The One About Matthew Perry arrives on Tuesday 27 October. The three-part series from Emmy winner Mary Robertson is, Netflix says, told by the people who knew Perry best and uses unreleased family photos and videos. You, Me, Us, Daniele Luchetti’s Italian comedy about a couple trying to adopt, follows on Thursday 29 October.

Friday 30 October also brings:

  • A Couple of Lies, a Swedish psychological thriller about a house swap that turns into surveillance and mistrust, with Frida Gustavsson, Fares Fares and Emma Appleton.
  • Collision Course, Daniel Sánchez Arévalo’s thriller about a Madrid bank raid.
  • Dead-End Job, a Korean mystery-horror series starring Lee Jae-wook.
  • SCTV: The Greatest Show You’ve Never Heard Of, a documentary on the Canadian sketch series.

Apple TV

Nocturne makes its global debut on Friday 30 October with two episodes, then one a week until 25 December. Liev Schreiber plays a former soldier turned homicide detective, Zazie Beetz an FBI agent and Stephen Graham the serial killer Jurek Walter. Apple says the 10-part drama is based on The Sandman by Lars Kepler.

ITV1 and ITVX

Adultery began on ITV1 on Sunday 25 October at 9pm and is on ITVX. Danny Brocklehurst wrote and created the six-part drama, which stars Dominic Cooper and Romola Garai as Tom and Beth, whose affair threatens both families, while their teenage children are in a relationship of their own. ITV says it explores class, grief, parenthood and social media.

On Channel 4’s E4, One Born Every Minute started the same evening at 9pm.

Sky, Prime Video and Disney+

Sky Original WAR continues weekly on Sky and NOW. George Kay’s legal drama stars Dominic West and Sienna Miller as a tech entrepreneur and a film star whose divorce sets two London law firms against each other.

Prime Video‘s German romance Drive streams worldwide from Wednesday 28 October, and the Spanish zombie sequel Apocalypse Z: New World arrives in more than 240 countries and territories on Friday 30 October, Amazon says.

On Disney+ UK, Yu-Gi-Oh! season five lands on Wednesday 28 October, and UEFA Women’s Champions League matchday three streams on 28 and 29 October.
