The people behind the remote.
Everyone who writes for The Remote. Human bylines belong to the people named. Round-ups and other group stories carry the Editorial Team byline, explained on our editorial standards page.

Casie Stewart
37 stories
Casie Stewart is Senior Editor of The Remote and covers culture, comedy, creators and film. She has been documenting her life online since 2005, when her blog was still called This Is My Life, and is widely described as one of Canada's first social influencers. She ran social media for MuchMusic and MTV, hosted THIS: The Hot Internet Show, helped found the Toronto young-professionals network GenY-TO, and gave a TEDxWesternU talk called Being Human on the Internet. She calls herself an adventure capitalist.

Catherine Crowe
26 stories
Catherine Crowe runs The Remote's Pacific desk, covering what Australians and New Zealanders are watching and making. By training she is a speech-language pathologist, with a master's degree from Dalhousie University, which makes her the newsroom's toughest judge of an on-screen accent. She lives outside Wellington with her family, so her viewing is scheduled around bedtime.
-
Alicia Loveday
24 stories
Alicia Loveday is Managing Editor of The Remote and covers television. She works in fashion and marketing and is based in Calgary, so she is always the first to spot when a costume department got it exactly right, or very wrong.

Andrew Lovesey
20 stories
Andrew Lovesey is Editor-in-Chief of The Remote, and he has worked every side of the screen. He’s been in the casting studio, on the production floor and in front of the camera. He writes from Toronto’s Little Portugal and orders his cheeseburgers like a five-year-old: with cheese, ketchup and nothing else. He collects hotel pens and will happily tell anyone which property makes his favourite. His partner has threatened to leave over his obsession with The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, but he is still watching, and he isn’t sorry.

Lauren Smith
19 stories
Lauren Smith covers streaming the way readers actually use it: what is new, what is leaving, what it costs and how to watch it in Canada. She lives in Toronto by way of Glasgow, and brings a Glaswegian's low tolerance for paying twice for the same show.
-
Jeff Cameron
18 stories
Jeff Cameron covers the business of entertainment: mergers, earnings, windows and who actually owns what. He is a chief operating officer by day, with an MBA and a BA from Western University and a career in operations, so he reads a quarterly report the way most people read a recap. He is also the newsroom's resident Star Trek authority. Ask him where to start and set aside an afternoon.

Editorial Team
16 stories
Stories bylined Editorial Team are round-ups, guides and listings assembled by the desk of The Remote: weekly and monthly what-to-watch guides, new-on-streaming lists and other group efforts. They do not stand for a single reporter. Every item is checked against primary sources and edited and approved by a human editor before it runs.

Jessie Isberg
9 stories
Jessie Isberg writes about screen travel: where shows and films were shot, and how to visit. She is a Toronto psychotherapist and a musician, which means she can tell you where a series was filmed and why you cannot stop rewatching it.
