Why watch Suits is slick, quick and built on wish-fulfilment: sharp suits, sharper comebacks and a mentor-protégé bond at its centre. Its long afterlife is the story: when it arrived on Netflix and Peacock in 2023, it found a huge new audience and prompted a spin-off, Suits LA. The ensemble, including Meghan Markle as Rachel Zane, Sarah Rafferty as Donna and Gina Torres as Jessica Pearson, rewards a long binge.

What to know

Aaron Korsh created and wrote the series, produced by Universal Content Productions, and it premiered on USA Network on 23 June 2011. It ran for nine seasons and 134 episodes, ending on 25 September 2019. Torres, Adams and Markle left after season seven; Katherine Heigl joined for season eight, and Dulé Hill and Amanda Schull were promoted to regulars. Adams returned for three episodes of the final season. A spin-off, Pearson, followed Torres’s character into Chicago politics in 2019, and Suits LA, starring Stephen Amell, came after the streaming revival.

Where to start

Begin with the pilot, which stages Mike’s accidental job interview with Harvey. The first four seasons are the core of the show, with Mike’s secret at full tension; later seasons shift toward power struggles within the firm.
