Why watch Few dramas have tracked the news business this closely in real time, from #MeToo to the pandemic to corporate mergers. Billy Crudup won two Emmys as Cory Ellison, and Jennifer Aniston won a SAG Award for season one. It suits viewers who like workplace drama with big stars and bigger speeches.
What to know
The Morning Show was created by Jay Carson and developed by Kerry Ehrin, with Mimi Leder directing and executive producing. It launched with Apple TV+ (now Apple TV) itself on 1 November 2019. Aniston and Witherspoon are also executive producers, and Charlotte Stoudt took over as showrunner for later seasons.
The cast has grown season by season: Jon Hamm joined in season three, and season four, which premiered on 17 September 2025 and picks up almost two years after the UBA and NBN merger, added Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons, Aaron Pierre, William Jackson Harper and Boyd Holbrook. Apple renewed the series for a fifth season just ahead of the season four premiere, and has since confirmed that the fifth will be the last.
Where to start
Season one, which is the most tightly plotted and gives the later seasons their stakes.
