Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, which gives the platforms a three-day run at the people staying in. Not all of it is horror, and not all of it is everywhere, so this list sticks to what actually arrives between Thursday 29 October and Sunday 1 November, by platform and market, on the platforms’ own dates.

The lead pick: Apocalypse Z: New World (Prime Video, Friday 30 October)
Prime Video timed its Spanish zombie sequel for Halloween weekend. Apocalypse Z: New World (Apocalipsis Z: Un Nuevo Mundo) arrives on 30 October in more than 240 countries and territories, Amazon says, after a premiere at the 59th Sitges Film Festival on 10 October. Amazon’s US October schedule lists it for 31 October.
The setup, per Amazon: after the viral outbreak of the first film, the Canary Islands have become Europe’s last refuge. A team sent to the mainland for supplies includes Roberto, who has motives of his own, and the run turns into a fight for survival among infected hordes and uncertain loyalties. Carles Torrens returns as director from a screenplay by Ángel Agudo, adapting Manel Loureiro’s books. The cast includes Jose María Yazpik, Berta Vázquez and Javier Godino, and Pedrito the cat, played by Lúculo, is back.
