Clear Friday night for The Assassin. Stan‘s second season of the Keeley Hawes and Freddie Highmore thriller drops every episode at once, which takes care of the weekend. The run-up is busy too: Netflix brings back Black Doves and the Arctic comedy North of North on Thursday, and Wednesday piles up new seasons on Apple TV and Disney+ alongside a complete Muhammad Ali series on Prime Video. Stan is an Australian service; the Netflix, Apple TV, Disney+ and Prime Video titles below are for both Australia and Aotearoa. Still catching up? The picks in last week’s guide are still streaming.

Wednesday 4 November

Stick season two (Apple TV). Pryce Cahill, the washed-up former pro played by Owen Wilson, is betting on himself this time, chasing a comeback while his young prodigy Santi (Peter Dager) wrestles with the weight of expectation. The season starts in Australia on 4 November with two episodes, then one a week until 30 December, 10 in all. Marc Maron, Rhea Seehorn and Timothy Olyphant round out the cast.

All’s Fair season two (Disney+). The all-female divorce firm reopens on 4 November with three episodes, then a new one every Wednesday until the 2 December finale. Kim Kardashian, Naomi Watts and Niecy Nash-Betts run the practice, with Glenn Close and Sarah Paulson in the cast.

The Greatest (Prime Video). Ben Watkins’s Muhammad Ali series arrives whole, all eight episodes at once, with Jaalen Best playing the boxer as both Cassius Clay and Ali. It streams in more than 240 countries and territories, and Amazon frames it as the story of “a man, a husband, a father, a brother, and a son.”

Thursday 5 November

Black Doves season two (Netflix). Keira Knightley’s Helen is still feeding secrets to the Black Doves while her husband Wallace readies himself to become prime minister. Then Ben Whishaw’s Sam, reduced to low-paid hits, is thrown back into her path. Sarah Lancashire returns as Mrs Reed, and the new faces include Ambika Mod, Sam Riley, Neve Campbell and Sylvia Hoeks.

North of North season two (Netflix). Back to Ice Cove for eight half-hours. Siaja (Anna Lambe) pushes her boss for more responsibility, meets a half-sister she never knew existed and, between all that and raising her daughter, starts to think about dating again.

Friday 6 November

The Assassin season two (Stan). All six episodes land on Stan at once. Hawes returns as hitwoman Julie and Highmore as her estranged son Edward, whose honeymoon with Kayla (Shalom Brune-Franklin) is derailed by a new threat. Mother and son end up as reluctant partners again, taking on Spain’s corrupt underworld and straining a relationship that was fragile to begin with. Devon Terrell and Natalia Tena join the cast.

Possible Love (Netflix). Lee Chang-dong’s new film streams globally from Friday, with Jeon Do-yeon, Sul Kyung-gu and Cho Yeo-jeong in the cast.

Under Siege (Netflix). Natalia Reyes leads an eight-part Colombian drama inspired by the 1985 siege of the Palace of Justice in Bogotá.

Sunday 8 November

The Institute season two (Stan). The Stephen King adaptation picks up with Luke and his friends trying to bring the Institute down. New episodes arrive every Sunday.

Unskilled Adult (Stan). Hamish Blake’s new Stan Original opened with a double episode on Sunday 1 November and adds a new episode every Sunday across its eight-episode run.

Deli Boys (SBS2, from 8.30pm). Two pampered Pakistani American brothers inherit a convenience store with ties to the criminal underworld in this dark crime comedy. SBS is screening season one as part of its Diwali programming, and it is one of the highlights of the Celebrating Diwali collection on SBS On Demand.

Next week

The ABC’s comedy Austin returns for season three on Wednesday 11 November at 9pm on ABC TV and ABC iview.
