Why watch Directed by Seth MacFarlane, who also voices the title character, it stars Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis and launched the Ted franchise.
In memoriam: Sir Patrick Stewart, who narrated the film, died on 28 October 2026, aged 86. Read our tribute to his career.
Patrick Stewart in Ted
Patrick Stewart narrates the film, and the joke is the gap between his grand, storybook voice and the things he is asked to say. It was one of several projects with Seth MacFarlane, who also cast him as Avery Bullock in American Dad! and later made Blunt Talk. Ted was released in 2012, with Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis, and Stewart returned to narrate the sequel in 2015. The film became one of the biggest R-rated comedies of its year and set up a sequel and, later, a streaming series.
