Harry Potter is about to start over. HBO‘s new series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, premieres on HBO Max “this Christmas 2026”, according to HBO Max’s help centre. That makes this the season for a rewatch of the eight films that started with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in 2001, before a new cast takes the same story from the top. Where they stream depends on where you live. Each listing below is from the platform’s own page.

United States: Peacock

Peacock is the home of the films in the US. Its own viewing guide, updated on 25 March, says: “All eight Harry Potter films are available to stream exclusively on Peacock.” A Premium or Premium Plus plan covers them. Peacock adds that content availability may vary over time, so check the app before planning a marathon.

The eight films, in release order, as Peacock lists them:

  1. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (2001)
  2. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002)
  3. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004)
  4. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005)
  5. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007)
  6. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009)
  7. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2010)
  8. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (2011)

Release order is also story order, so there is no puzzle about where to start.

Canada: Crave

In Canada, Crave is the place to look. When HBO announced the series’ young leads in May 2025, Bell Media said the original films “will remain available to watch on Crave”, and that the new series will stream exclusively on Crave in Canada. Bell Media has not published a newer statement on the films, so confirm in the app before you settle in.

One naming note for Canadian and British readers: the first film’s original title, used outside the US, is Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. The new HBO series uses the Philosopher’s Stone title everywhere, including on HBO Max’s US help page.

The new series: HBO Max, and Crave in Canada

HBO Max describes Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone as a new HBO Original series based on the books, and says all HBO Max plans include it. Viewers on the Premium plan get 4K UHD, HDR10 or Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos on select devices, according to the same page. HBO Max has not posted an exact date and time on that page beyond “this Christmas 2026”.

The three leads, according to Bell Media’s casting announcement, are all screen newcomers: Dominic McLaughlin as Harry, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.

In Canada, Bell Media says the series will stream exclusively on Crave.

Planning the rewatch

Eight films is a lot of running time, and the calendar is tight between now and Christmas. Two ways to pace it:

  • One film a week. Start the weekend of 24 Oct and you finish the last film in mid December, just ahead of the series.
  • Two weekend sprints. Watch the first four films, through Goblet of Fire, on one weekend, then save the final four for the run-up to Christmas.

Whichever pace you choose, keep the last two together: Deathly Hallows: Part 1 and Part 2 adapt the final book as one story split across two films, released a year apart.

If younger viewers are joining in, check each film’s rating in your app: ratings differ by country and by film.

Everywhere else

Film rights for the franchise are sold market by market and move regularly. The Remote could not confirm current film availability for the UK, Australia or New Zealand on a regional platform page, and HBO Max has not confirmed on its help pages which countries will get the series at Christmas. Check your platform: search the title in each service you already pay for before you subscribe.
