Our take

The first computer-animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film, in which the brothers have drifted apart and have to reunite to stop an ancient warlord's plan to unleash monsters on New York.

Why watch A darker, more grown-up take on the Turtles, built around a family that has drifted apart and a fight to pull it back together. Watch it for the rooftop duel between Leonardo and Raphael, one of the best scenes in the franchise.

In memoriam: Sir Patrick Stewart, who voiced Max Winters, died on 28 October 2026, aged 86. Read our tribute to his career.

Patrick Stewart in TMNT

Patrick Stewart voices Max Winters, a billionaire industrialist who turns out to be Yaotl, an immortal warrior cursed three thousand years earlier and now trying to undo it. The role gave the film its villain and its emotional ending. Kevin Munroe wrote and directed the 2007 film, with a voice cast that also included Chris Evans, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Mako in his final film.
