Matthew Modine is an American actor and filmmaker who shared the Venice Volpi Cup with the ensemble of Robert Altman's Streamers. He led Birdy and Vision Quest in the 1980s and played Marine James T. Joker Davis in Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket. Later work includes Short Cuts, The Dark Knight Rises, Oppenheimer and Dr. Martin Brenner in Netflix's Stranger Things, with Golden Globe and Emmy nominations for And the Band Played On.
