Career
Combs trained at the Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts and the University of Washington, worked in West Coast theatre and moved to Los Angeles in 1980. After a first horror role in Frightmare (1983), Re-Animator made him a genre fixture, and he returned to West in two sequels. His work with Gordon includes From Beyond, The Pit and the Pendulum and Castle Freak; he played Lovecraft himself in Necronomicon and appeared in Peter Jackson’s The Frighteners (1996), I Still Know What You Did Last Summer and House on Haunted Hill.
His Star Trek career began on Deep Space Nine in 1994. Weyoun, his favourite, was a role he helped shape, and he once played both Weyoun and Brunt in the same episode. He recurred as Shran on Enterprise and voiced the computer AGIMUS on Lower Decks. Voice credits include the Scarecrow in The New Batman Adventures, the Question in Justice League Unlimited and Ratchet in Transformers: Prime, and he has performed a one-man show as Edgar Allan Poe.
